One of the unique advantages of the SOMS Filter are environmental
benefits that can be achieved by using the product. By extending the
engine oil and filter change interval, the SOMS Filter reduces the use of
motor oil and filters.

Engine lubricating oil for internal combustion engines (including hybrid
and biofuel engines) is derived from petroleum and related raw materials.
Oil is a precious and expensive natural resource. Used oil is a major
environmental hazard, particularly to drinking water, and recycling is
mandated throughout the US.

It takes 2 barrels of oil to produce 5 quarts of engine oil. Use of 1M
SOMS filters would result in: reducing use and removing from the waste
stream 8M barrels of oil; and, removing 4M used filters from the waste
stream and saving 2,600 cubic yards of landfill space.

Reducing used engine oil and filters in the waste stream will
correspondingly reduce the cost of recycling and remediation. The
environmental benefits of the SOMS Filter also benefit governments and
taxpayers.

Finally, by removing the small particles that are a direct cause of friction
in the engine, the SOMS Filter can improve fuel efficiency, offering
additional environmental benefits.
